Political affiliation isn't the issue
A critical viewpoint is, of course, a must
in a film reviewer's work. The criticism should address the
technical and artistic qualities of a film, but also its ideas
and message. Comments on individual participants' political
party affiliation, on the other hand, have no place in such
a review.
Bruce Willis has taken part in a number of movies that live
up to the epithet "vulgar conservative garbage flicks",
but also in several films that make no good US Republican
happy: "In Country", "Pulp Fiction", "Twelve
Monkeys", "Breakfast of Champions"...
No matter how much one dislikes the American Republicans'
politics, the party is an established one that follows the
rules of political life in a democratic country. An individual
citizen, even if his name is Bruce Willis, must have the right
to vote for, belong to and actively support such a party without
it being used against him in judging the quality of his professional
performance.
